Rabmer Children's Construction Day: Exciting insights into the world of construction and environmental technology
Altenberg, July 19, 2024 - The Rabmer Group, a renowned construction and environmental technology company based in Altenberg near Linz, set a new attendance record at this year's Children's Construction Day. A total of 75 children between the ages of 6 and 14 took part in this exciting event. The event not only attracted children of employees, but also children from Altenberg and the surrounding communities of Haibach, Reichenau and Ottenschlag.
Exploring technology through play
The Rabmer Children's Construction Day took place for the fifth time in a row. The aim of this initiative is to awaken enthusiasm for technology and craftsmanship among school-age children. The young participants experienced an active day full of fun and learning opportunities at six varied stations. "The Rabmer Children's Construction Day was once again a complete success this year - this is shown by the increasing number of registrations and the positive feedback from the children and their parents. The girls and boys are full of enthusiasm and curiosity and solve the tasks set with great motivation and skill," says Ulrike Rabmer-Koller, Managing Director of the Rabmer Group.
Exciting stations and practical experience
Equipped with Rabmer work clothes - T-shirts, work gloves, cool caps as well as a bricklayer's pencil and folding rule - the children mastered six exciting stations in small groups, where dexterity, creativity and craftsmanship were required. With assistance, they maneuvered a forklift through an obstacle course, built a small brick house together as a team and hammered and drilled a roof truss in the carpentry workshop. There were also shining eyes at the "Excavator driving" station, where the children moved material independently with a mini-excavator after a short introduction. Another station allowed the children to explore a labyrinth of sewer pipes with the help of a sewer inspection robot. The "Saving water is child's play!" station was also included again, where the children learned how they can reduce water consumption when showering by taking simple measures.
Promotion of technical interest
"We are very pleased that the demand is so great and that we can arouse interest in manual and technical professions at an early age with our initiative. And who knows, maybe we will be able to welcome some children as apprentices in the future," said Rabmer-Koller. The mayor of Altenberg, NR Michael Hammer, and the deputy mayor of Haibach, Sylvia Hammer, who visited the individual stations and actively cheered on the children, were also impressed by the skill and motivation of the children. The municipalities of Altenberg, Haibach, Reichenau and Ottenschlag also promoted the children's construction day as part of the vacation play activities and organized the registration of the children.
