The Alpen Karawanserai in Hintergelmm is in it – saving water with the ECOTURBINO®

The ECOTURBINO is the only water saving device for showers, which enables us to feel the same comfort inside the shower as without the gadget– the new must-have for hotels.

The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is one of the world’s best known ski areas and the largest, coherent skier’s paradise in Austria. The Design Hotel “Alpen-Karawanserai” is located in the middle of this skiing region, offers its guests a modern and elegant design combined with some oriental touches. This includes a beautiful SPA with pools, saunas and a Skydeck (2500 m²). Therefore water plays an important role in the overall concept of the 4 * Design Hotels located in the centre of Hinterglemm.

From customer to supplier

The story began with a skiing vacation by Rabmer CEO Ulrike Rabmer-Koller, which she spent in the Alpen-Karawanserai. She was able to test the Ecoturbino for a week and later on present it to Elisabeth Breitfuß. The tub test was carried out to measure the exact savings in water and energy. In this process, a clear labeled bucket is first filled in (inside the shower) for a minute without and then with the ECOTURBINO. The flow rate could be reduced from 9 l/min to 5.5 l/min, without noticing any loss in comfort. Good for the environment and good for the hotel, a classic win-win situation!

Fast installation, great effect

The installation of the ECOTURBINOs took place in fall 2018, since then the hotel has been saving around 3.400 litres of water and 44 kg of CO2 every day. Forecasting to 1 year, the installation results in considerable savings of 1.2 million litres of water, 50.000 kWh of energy and 16.000 kg of CO2. Of course, Ms Breitfuß is quite happy to have achieved such great results with this small turbine.

After the installation at the Stanglwirt or the Hotel Rupertus, we are very pleased that the famous 4**** wellness hotel in Leogang now also relies on our unique water and energy saving system for the shower!
