The Alpen-Karawanserai in Hinterglemm does it - saving water with the ECOTURBINO®

The ECOTURBINO, the only water-saving system for showers where the shower jet and shower comfort remain the same, is the new must-have for hotels.

The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn is one of the world's best ski areas and is the largest interconnected skier's paradise in Austria. The Design Ski Hotel Alpen-Karawanserai is located in the middle of this ski area and offers its guests modern and elegant design combined with a touch of the Orient. This also includes a wonderful 2500 m² Design SPA with pools, saunas and Skydeck. Water thus plays an important role in the overall concept of the 4* design hotel located in the center of Hinterglemm.

From customer to supplier

The story began during a skiing vacation of Rabmer Managing Director Ulrike Rabmer-Koller, which she spent in the Alpine Caravanserai. She was able to test the ECOTURBINO® on site for a week and then present the system to Elisabeth Breitfuß. The bucket test was carried out together to measure the exact water and energy savings. In this process, a transparent bucket with markings is first filled without and then with ECOTURBINO® for one minute. The flow rate was reduced from an already very environmentally friendly 9 l/min to 5.5 l/min without any loss of comfort. Thanks to the water-air mixture generated in the "small turbine", the shower jet feels exactly the same as before installation, while a significant amount of water, energy and ultimately operating costs are saved. Good for the environment and good for the hotel, a classic win-win situation!

Quick installation, great effect

The ECOTURBINOs were installed back in autumn 2018, and since then the hotel has been saving around 3,400 liters of water and 44 kg ofCO2 every day. Extrapolated to 1 year, this results in the considerable savings of 1.2 million liters of water, 50,000 kWh of energy and 16,000 kg ofCO2. Ms. Breitfuß is naturally delighted that she was able to achieve such a great result with this efficient measure.

Following the installation at the Stanglwirt, the Hotel Rupertus and the Krallerhof - to name just a few - we are delighted that the well-known 4**** design hotel in Hinterglemm has now also opted for our unique water and energy-saving system for the shower!
