Energy from wastewater - sustainable heating & cooling

FREE ONLINE event on July 9, 2020 at 10.00 am!

A cooperation event of the Cleantech-Cluster Upper Austria, Rabmer GreenTech GmbH and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna-Institute of Sanitary Engineering.

Topic and initial situation!

Over 50% of the energy required in Austria is used for heating and cooling, including hot water preparation, making sustainable heating and cooling the major challenge in times of climate change!

Wastewater heat provides us with great energy potential, which can be utilized using state-of-the-art heat exchanger and heat pump technologies - economically, efficiently and innovatively!

The current requirements from the perspective of the German government's new climate and energy strategy, spatial planning and local energy supply as well as the many advantages in terms of technology and cost-effectiveness of energy from wastewater solutions compared to conventional approaches are just a few of the reasons to increasingly rely on these technologies in the future.

What you can expect at this event:

  • You will receive important first-hand information on the "Gemeindemilliarde", the programs of the climate fund and the future environmental funding of the federal government
  • You will learn how to identify potential, evaluate ideas and implement innovative solutions for heating and cooling buildings or for hot water preparation
  • You will receive information on current lighthouse projects in Austria in connection with cold grids and feeding waste heat from wastewater into district heating networks
  • You will learn how wastewater from wastewater treatment plants can be used as an "energy hub" for the treatment plant and the surrounding area

  • Current status of the federal government's funding tools for sustainable energy sources (DI Dr. Bettina Bergauer, Federal Ministry for Climate Protection)

About the organizers:

The Upper Austrian Cleantech Cluster bundles the performance and expertise of Upper Austrian environmental technology companies and supports its partners in joint research projects as well as the distribution and marketing of products at home and abroad.

Rabmer GreenTech GmbH is a member of the Cleantech Cluster, has been dealing with the topic of energy from wastewater for many years and has meanwhile realized many studies, feasibility analyses and implementation projects on this topic.

The Institute of Sanitary Engineering, Industrial Water Management and Water Protection (SIG) at BOKU Vienna stands for the sustainable protection of the livelihoods of future generations and has also carried out many years of research in the field of thermal wastewater utilization.
